The Hungarian section of the Israeli Communist Party, one of the largest groups in the movement, withdrew from the party in protest against the conviction in Budapest last week of Hungarian Zionist leaders charged with aiding illegal mass migration of Jews to Israel. This is the second split in the Israeli Communist ranks in the last five months, 25 members having been expelled earlier for “nationalist deviations.”
