State Department Appoints George Mcghee Assistant Secretary for Near East Affairs

Confirmation of the appointment of George C. McGhee as Assistant Secretary of State for Near East and African Affairs was announced today by the State Department.

The Department also named Raymond A. Hare, who has been reassigned under the new arrangement, to be Deputy Assistant Director of the Office of Near East and African Affairs, and John W. Jago, who was appointed executive director. Mr. Hare returned this week from Lausanne where he participated in the U.N. Palestine Conciliation Commission talks.
