The Department of Education of the state of Ohio has authorized the Hebrew Union College to offer Doctor of Philosophy degrees for work done in residence in Hebraic and Cognate Studies, it was announced here today.
The Hebrew Union College is the first Jewish seminary in the United States to offer the Ph.D. degree. Other degrees awarded by the college are: Doctor of Hebrew Letters, Bachelor of Hebrew Letters, Master of Hebrew Letters and Doctor of Divinity.
