Dr. Israel Goldstein today announced his resignation as treasurer of the Jewish Agency. He expects to return soon to the United States. Dr. Itzhak Gruenbaum was elected temporary treasurer at today’s meeting of the Agency’s executive.
Dr. Joseph Schwartz, European director of the Joint Distribution Committee, was honored here today at a reception tendered him by leading Israeli rabbis in the home of Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog. Replying to their greetings, Dr. Schwartz said that the J.D.C. will continue to support religious institutions.
Israeli Premier David Ben Gurion and Finance Minister Eliezer Kaplan returned last night with their wives after a cruise of three days with units of the Israeli Navy in the Eastern Mediterranean. The Cabinet members discussed with high naval officers the various problems facing that force. They also witnessed a demonstration of naval gunfire.
