The American and British delegations today gave unmistakable indications that they will support a proposal that the Middle East arms embargo be lifted, when the Security Council considers the question tomorrow. The U.S. and British delegations will also support Dr. Bunche’s suggestion that he be relieved of his duties as acting mediator.

In the event that the U.N. embargo is lifted, Israel’s immediate concern will be with whether the United States will lift its own embargo on the Middle East. The Israelis count on a ready procurement of arms from the U.S. since the Arabs will be supplied with weapons by the British, it was stated here today.
