Official statistics released here today reveal that 25,850 unemployed persons registered with labor exchanges throughout the country during July. Nearly-full employment was obtained by 11,250 registrants while 5,300 worked for about two weeks during the same month and 9,300 obtained less than one week’s employment.
It was also disclosed that 16,800 Jewish immigrants reached Israel during July. Half of these came from European countries while the remainder were from Turkey, Tripolitania, Arab countries and India. Twelve thousand immigrants, it was added, left Israel reception camps during July and settled in various parts of the country, while a total of 164,000 immigrants reached the Jewish state during the first seven months of 1949.
