The first formal Arab acceptance of Israel’s proposal for reuniting Arab families separated during the Palestine war was received yesterday at a session of the Israel-Egyptian mixed armistice commission. The Egyptian representative handed the Israelis an official letter from the Cairo Government agreeing to cooperate for this humanitarian purpose.

In Jerusalem, an agreement between municipal authorities in the Old and New City of Jerusalem was reached today. Under the agreement all mines located in “noman’s land” will be cleared and efforts will be initiated to repair drainage pipes in both areas in order to prevent creation of a sewage swamp near the Old City.
