Los Angeles City Council Turns Down Fair Employment Practices Measure

A proposed Fair Employment Practices law for the city of Los Angeles has been defeated in the City Council by a vote of 8 to 6.

The measure was sponsored by an organization of leading citizens headed by Judge Isaac Pacht, trustee of the Federation of Jewish Welfare Organizations here and president of the Los Angeles Jewish Community Council. It is believed that the failure of veterans groups to support the legislation was responsible for its defeat.
