JERUSALEM (Oct. 9)
The Jewish Agency decided today that Berl Locker, chairman of the Jerusalem executive, should serve as acting treasurer pending the election of a permanent treasurer by the Agency’s plenum, scheduled to be held in December at the same time that the Zionist Actions Committee meets. Dr. Itzhak Gruenbaum resigned as treasurer of the Agency last week.
Minister of Supply Dov Joseph announced during the week-end that relaxations on the rationing of beef and eggs will go into effect next month. The action was attributed only in part to improvement in the general economic picture in the Jewish state, Primary reason for the move was explained by the more judicious use of Israel’s food resources.
