The State Department has asked Charge d’Affaires Edmund J. Dorsz at the U.S. Embassy at Bagdad for an immediate report on anti-Jewish developments in Iraq, it was learned late today.

Sources close to the State Department revealed that the belief of some American officials is that reports reaching Israel of pogroms in Iraq may be somewhat exaggerated. Iraqi sources claim that trials of Jews have been on charges of Communist activity or membership in the Israel Army or Israel espionage service.
