Religious Body of Rumanian Jewry Surrenders Communal Property Where No Jews Survived

The recently established Superior Rabbinical Council, supreme religious authority of Rumanian Jewry, today held its first meeting here since its organization. The Council represents 206 Jewish communities in this country.

The council decided to turn over all community buildings in areas where no Jews survived the war to local authorities. The body also reaffirmed its full confidence in Chief Rabbi Moses Rosen. A resolution to this effect said that Dr. Rosen is fully qualified for his position by virtue of his “deep spiritual and temporal education.”
