J.N.F. Dinner Hears Gen. Hilldring Voice Opposition to U.N. Control over Jerusalem

Maj. Gen. John Hilldring, former member of the U.S. delegation to the United Nations, speaking tonight at a Jewish National Fund dinner here, declared that the U.N. cannot assume control over the Jews who desire to be Israelis nor the Arabs who wish to be citizens of Arab Palestine.

Advocating international protection of the Holy Places in the Holy City, he added: “I am not one of these who believe that in order to protect the Holy Places, the United Nations must also assume control over the fate and fortunes of 100,000 Jews who wish to be Israelis and of 140,000 Arabs who want to be citizens of Arab Palestine.” The dinner marked the launching of an effort to associate the name of Brooklyn Jewry with a tract of land to be acquired by the J.N.F. in the Negev, which will be named Kfar Brooklyn.
