Dr. Rudolf Bienenfeld, member of the executive of the World Jewish Congress, conferred here with Austrian Minister of Justice Dr. Franz Techadek and other government authorities in connection with a bill now before the Austrian Parliament which would undermine the existing restitution laws for Jews and other victims of the Nazis whose property was confiscated during the Hitler regime.
In a statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Dr. Bienenfeld said that he gained the impression that the Austrian authorities are not closing their eyes to the effect which the bill may have on the restitution laws. He emphasized that his talks with the Austrian authorities were undertaken in consultation with the American Jewish Committee and the Joint Distribution Committee.
