A monument to the victims of the German extermination camp of Oswiecim was unveiled today in the Jewish cemetery of the town of Sigiscare, Transylvania. In 1944, when the town was under Hungarian fascist rule, take whole Jewish population was deported to Oswiecim.
Today’s ceremony was attended by representatives of the local civil and military authorities, the Rumanian Workers Party, the Jewish Democratic Committee and the German Anti-Fascist Committee. The latter organization is a board representing the German national minority in Rumania.
