Eliahu Sassoon, Israel’s first Minister to Turkey, arrived in Ankara today together with his legation staff. His arrival marks the establishment of friendly relations between Israel and Turkey and opens up possibilities for normal trade between the two countries.

A delegation of Israel businessmen is scheduled to arrive here shortly to negotiate with local commercial firms, particularly export companies, it was reported today. Export firms in Turkey have already received numerous orders from the Jewish state and it is expected that trade relations between the two nations will increase considerably in 1950.

The absence of a formal commercial agreement between Israel and Turkey has to date handicapped the expansion of economic relations between Tel Aviv and Ankaras but it is believed that the development of diplomatic relations will improve this situation in the near future.
