The first Jewish theatre and concert hall–with a seating capacity for 400 persons–will open in the “Philanthropin House” here shortly, it was disclosed today.
Constructed in 1804 and destroyed by the Nazis in 1938, the “Philanthropin House” has served as an orphan asylum and as a Jewish high school. In addition to housing a theatre, the new edifice will provide office space for Jewish communal organizations here and will also serve as a social center.
