Eight Jewish DP’s were injured this weekend in a clash with German police in Hanover, in the British zone. The local authorities are investigating the incident.

The incident developed during a search of a DP hostel in that city by German customs officials looking for smuggled goods. The customs officials were proceeding in courteous feshion when a large force of police, summoned by unknown persons, swept into the hostel. Within a matter of minutes a clash developed, with the DP’s as the victims. The customs search turned up absolutely no trace of smuggled goods.
