A demand that economic liberty to restricted in Jerusalem was voiced here today by Iraqi delegate Fadil Jamali at a session of the U.N, Trusteeship Council which is currently considering a draft status for an international regime in Jerusalem.
Dr. Jamali charged that “money has played a tragic role” in the Palestine situation and warned against the possibility of Jerusalem becoming a “Zicnist citadel with the non-Jewish population reduced to slavery.” Both he and Aubrey Eban, Israel representative, asked that the discussion be carried over to the next Council meeting on Wednesday so that they could present more material concerning the issue to the body.
The Council also postponed until Wednesday consideration of action on control of radio broadcasting in the city, with a sub-committee consisting of Belgium, Iraq and Britain ordered to bring in recommendations on control of the radio. A sub-committee consisting of the United States, Belgium and the Philippines was instructed to bring in proposals for an educational system.
