Aubrey S. Eban, Israel’s permanent representative to the U.N., held a conference today with the chief Soviet U.N. delegate Jacob A. Malik in one of a series of discussions the Israel representative is having with leading delegations following the dramatic Russian announcement of yesterday with-drawing Soviet support for the internationalization of Jerusalem.

As a result of the Soviet switch, it was indicated in Israel diplomatic circles here today that the Israel Government will make increased efforts to arrive at a workable solution of the Jerusalem problem. It was held likely that Israel would make new proposals to the U.N. Trusteeship Council when it meets here in June, on the assumption that the resolution of last December establishing an international regime for the city has now lost its two-thirds majority.
