No single untoward incident or traffic accident marred yesterday’s celebration of Independence Day in Jerusalem, despite the fact that over 80,000 persons jammed the streets of the city while thousands of cars crowded the city and all roads leading to it. Only some 30 cases of mild sunstroke or minor accidents were reported.

Foreign Ministry circles expressed satisfaction today over the fact that members of the United Nations staff here broke the consular and diplomatic corps’ boycott of the celebrations in this city by appearing at the military parade in civilian clothes.
