Vital issues concerning Jewish life in the United States, the relationship of American Jews to Israel and growing anti-Semitism in Germany will be discussed at a two-day meeting of the executive committee of the American Jewish Committee which will be held during the week-end at the Hotel Biltmore.
Jacob Blaustein, president of the A.J.C., will deliver the keynote address on the future of the American Jewish community and its relationship to Israel, at the opening dinner session on Saturday evening. Irving Engel, chairman of the executive committee, will report on the present status of displaced persons legislation. Recent developments in Germany will be presented to the session by Arthur L. Mayer, formerly special adviser to General Lucius Clay in Germany. Herbert B. Ehrmann of Boston, Chairman of the administrative committee, will lead the discussion on civil liberties, together with Samuel R. Feller, chairman of the domestic affairs committee.
The appointment of Isador Lubin, former U.S. Commissioner of Labor Statistics, as chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the A.J.C., was announced today by Mr. Blaustein. Mr. Lubin succeeds Federal Judge Phillip Forman of Trenton, who served as chairman of the committee since 1946.
