TEL AVIV (May. 17)
Israel fighters today forced down an R.A.F. coastal command Sunderland flying boat which flew over Israel territory near Tiberias.
After the British craft refused to obey landing orders, Israeli fighters fired warning bursts at the plane which then landed in the harbor of Tel Aviv. The craft was an route from Bahrein, on the Persian Gulf, to Egypt, according to one report. The eight-member crew was taken ashore in Israel naval launches for interrogation. The plane was later allowed to leave for its destination.
