No Limits Placed on Value of Gifts Which Tourists May Take with Them from Israel

SIGN UP FOR THE JTA DAILY BRIEFING

Tourists leaving Israel will henceforth be permitted to take with them gifts without restrictions as to total value, it was announced today. They must, however, prove that the gifts they purchased in the Jewish state were bought with funds obtained locally in exchange for foreign currency which they brought into the country. Tourists do not have to pay luxury taxes on gifts which they take with them.
