Jewish Deputy is Elected to State Parliament in Australia; Three Jews Run for Office

One Jewish deputy–Archie Michaelis–was returned to parliament in the recent Victoria state elections in Australia, it was reported here. He is a member of the liberal Country Party.

At least three Jews will be among the candidates next month in elections slated to be held in New South Wales. They are: A. Landa, a Laborite, and two Liberals–P. Goldman and Gerald de Vahl Davis. The latter is a member of the executive council of Australian Jewry and of the executive of the New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies.
