Approximately one-third of the 400 delegates to the World Zionist Congress which is scheduled to open here in December will be elected in the United States, it was announced here today by the Jewish Agency.
The announcement said that there will be about 130 delegates from the United States, 120 delegates from Israel and 150 from other parts of the world. The sum of approximately $400,000 to cover the cost of the Congress has been allocated by the organization committee of the Agency. It is expected that income from the sale of Shekolim, which entitle purchasers to participate in the election of delegates, will be about $5,000,000.
A contract providing for the completion of the Jerusalem convention center by December 1, three weeks before the 23rd World Zionist Congress is due to convene there, was signed today by Solel Bone Ltd., Histadrut’s building company. The cost of this phase of the construction work will be about $1,700,000.
