Israel Federation of Labor Gains 125,000 New Members in Two Years

The Histadrut, Israel’s Federation of Labor, has gained 125,000 new members during the last two years, all of them from the ranks of immigrants who arrived during that period, it was announced here today.

The announcement said that another 40,000 immigrants joined Histadrut unions but are not yet registered as full members owing to their present inability to pay membership dues. The membership of the Histadrut is now 278,000.

Deposits in Israel workers banks increased from 86,000,000 pounds in January to 95,300,000 pounds in March, it was reported today. Deposits on hand in cooperative banks totalled 22,800,000 pounds in January.
