Chief Rabbi Israel Brodie of the British Empire, addressing the conference of Jewish leaders from countries in the British Commonwealth, now taking place here, today called on Jewish communities to concentrate on the religious aspects of Jewish life. He said that present “emphasis on rehabilitation and relief is merely temporary and would be solved by the all too many bodies engaged in this work.”

The British Chief Rabbi also told the conference that financial obligations of Jewish communities throughout the world to Israel could be expected to decrease, since they “all hope to see in the not too distant future the Jewish state firmly established, and independent economically as well as politically.” A general discussion on the question of Jewish education in British Commonwealth countries followed a report delivered earlier by Rabbi Brodie on the achievements of Jews’ College here.
