U.S. Asked to Support International Supervision of Jewish Cemeteries in Germany

The World Jewish Congress announced today that it has appealed to the State Department asking that the U.S. Government support a proposal that burial grounds in Germany of Jewish victims of Nazism be placed under international supervision.

Dr. Israel Goldstein, chairman of the Western Hemisphere section of the W.J.C., pointed out that indidents involving the desecration of Jewish cemeteries are on the increase in Germany. He said that the European section of the W.J.C. executive has addressed similar appeals to European governments, and that their reaction was “highly encouraging.”
