Finance Minister Eliezer Kaplan today declared that requests by industrialists in Jerusalem for raw materials will receive favorable consideration. He spoke at the Opening of the first “Craft and Industrial Exhibition” in this city. The exhibit depicts the development of Jerusalem’s industries, including the wine and liquor industry, confectioneries, carpentry, glass-making and fur treatment.
Half of Jerusalem’s population is now engaged in various industrial occupations, Mayor Daniel Auster told the exhibition guests attending the opening ceremony. He predicted a speedier development of the city with the completion of a municipal airport.
The Foreign Relations Committee of the Knesset today started discussion on the question of drafting an appeal to the Soviet Government to permit the emigration of Jews from the Soviet Union to the Jewish state. An announcement that such an appeal will be directed by the Israel Government to Moscow was made in parliament several days ago.
