Benjamin G. Browdy, president of the Zionist Organization of America, today presented a sterling silver plaque to President Truman. The plaque thanks the President for “his never-to-be forgotten part in the founding of Israel” and the prompt recognition by the U.S. of Israel as a member of the United Nations. Mr. Browdy was accompanied to the White House by Congressman Abraham Multer, of Brooklyn.
After the plaque was presented to the President, Rep. Multer told newsmen that Mr. Truman expressed pleasure at receiving the trophy. He said the President asked Mr. Browdy to pay his respects to President Weizmann of Israel. Mr. Truman noted the current friction between Israel and its Arab neighbors and expressed the hope for speedy settlement, Rep. Multer said.
