Fifty-nine Jewish Community Centers in 55 communities in 24 states embarked on building programs involving the erection of brand new structures or the remodelling of existing facilities with a total estimated cost of $12,000,000 during the year ended August 31, 1950, according to a report today by the National Jewish Welfare Board, the national association of Jewish Community Centers.
The report said that 20 new or remodelled Center buildings consting $5,530,000 are now under construction, while 26 other Centers completed and occupied new or remodelled buildings costing $4,300,000 during the year ended August 31st. Fourteen other Centers acquired building sites during the year.
