Stressing Israel’s needs for additional support in the absorption of great numbers of immigrants, the Manchester Guardian, in an editorial today, expressed confidence that the American Jewish community would support the projected Israel loan drive.
“American Jewry has shown itself in the past extraordinarily generous in its support of the Zionist ideal when there was no prospect of return,” the paper declared. “It is unlikely to fail Israel when it is asked to make a genuine investment.”
