A rally staged by the Interfaith Movement, Inc., on the mall of Central Park here yesterday afternoon attracted some 5,000 persons who heard Acting Mayor Vincent Impellitteri assert that the city of New York leads the nation in tolerance.

A message from President Truman to the rally urged that “those who are meeting to observe Interfaith Day renew their devotion to the principles of tolerance and mutual respect. Our greatest blessing is the faith we Americans have in one another. As we grow in our understanding of these principles, our nation will be stronger in the eyes of man and more worthy in the eyes of God.” Messages were also received from Governor Thomas Dewey, Senator Herbert Ishman and others.
