World Jewish Congress Leaders from Israel, Europe, U.S. Arrive in N.Y. for Conference

Leaders of the World Jewish Congress from Israel, Europe and America have arrived here for a special conference to open at the W.J.C.’s New York headquarters on September 28, it was announced today by Dr. Israel Goldstein, chairman of the W.J.C. Western Hemisphere Section.

One of the topics to be discussed will be the work of the World Jewish Congress at the United Nations, including the “problem of meeting the new situation arising in Western Germany as the Allies hand over to German officialdim virtually complete power over German affairs.” The W.J.C. is pressing for retention of the Allied program for German restitution of property and assets which were to be returned to Jewish survivors and heirs of Jewish survivors.

Among the W.J.C. conferees at the New York meeting will be: from Israel, Dr. A. Leon Kubowitzki, chairman of the W.J.C. General Council; Dr. Arieh Tartakower, chairman of the Israel Executive; Dr. Anselm Reiss, member of the Israel Executive; from Europe. Dr. Gerhardt Reigner, W.J.C. representative in Switzerland; Dr. Noah Barou of London, chairman of the European Executive; Alex Easterman of London, Political Secretary for Europe; Dr. Abraham Steinberg of London, head of the Cultural Department; from Argentina, Dr. Moise Goldman, acting director, W.J.C. Latin American office. Dr. Nahum Goldmann, acting president of the W.J.C., will keynote the meeting.
