All Jewish survivors eligible for United States immigration can be resettled within the next year if U.S. consular officials abroad are prepared to issue 20,000 visas a month, Arthur Greenleigh, executive director of United Service for New Americans, today told 250 West Coast Jewish Leaders assembled here for a U.S.N.A. regional conference.
Mr. Greenleigh reported that approximately 30,000 Jewish survivors, eligible under the liberalized DP Act, were awaiting clearance and transportation for resettlement in the United States. Praising community support of the U.S.N.A. program, he said that communities throughout the country responded immediately to an urgent appeal for community job and housing assurances under the amended Act, and that provision was being made to care for every eligible newcomer.
