The landsberg DP camp in which more than 1,000 displaced Jews still live must be evacuated and the DP’s relocated by November 1, according to the latest order of John J. McCloy, American High Commissioner in Germany. The camp will be used for troops.

The emigration of Jews from Germany has slowed down in the last few months and 25,000 Jews, including 11,000 in camps, remain in the country. A reduction in the number accepted by Israel had brought the total down to 75 a month, with an additional 50 per month being accepted if their relatives in Israel provide accommodations for them. Immigration to the United States and other countries has also fallen off.
