Dr. Ralph Bunche, winner of the 1949 Nobel Peace Prize and United Nations mediator in Palestine in 1948, was honored by the University of Western Ontario for his role as a peacemaker in the war between Israel and the Arab countries. The university conferred upon him an honorary doctorate of law.
