Australian Government Takes Preliminary Steps Toward Admitting German Immigrants

The Australian Government has taken preliminary steps for bringing immigrants from German to Australia and has made financial provisions for this purpose in the federal budget, it was announced in the Parliament by Immigration Minister Harold Holt.

Replying to statements that the “Volksdeutsche” are more Nazi than German, the Minister said that he realizes that the “Volksdeutsche” are ultra-nationalistic Germans. However, he asserted that special precautions will be taken in screening the prospective immigrants.
