Israel Parliamentary Committee Votes $3,000,000 for Plans to Absorb Immigrants

An appropriation of more than $3,000,000 was approved today by the Finance Committee of the Israel Parliament for the absorption of immigrants.

The committee voted 500,000 Israel pounds for the preparation of “work villages” for immigrants for the coming winter, as well as 500,000 pounds to be added to the Ministry of Welfare’s budget for taking care of the immigrants. The committee also approved 70,000 pounds for the erection of new schools in immigrant villages.

Over 1,000 Jewish immigrants from Rumania arrived here yesterday aboard the Rumanian liner Transylvania. An additional 140 immigrants from Turkey disembarked.
