Some 175 representative from Ohio and seven adjacent states met for a two-day conference at the Hotel Hollenden here this week-end to consider problems of newcomers in the program of the United Service for New Americans. Community experiences were exchanged to prepare the way for better planning in finding employment and housing in anticipation of the arrival in the U.S. next year of some 20,000 to 25,000 Jewish immigrants.
Administrative difficulties have been overcome, Ann S. Petluck, assistant executive director of U.S.N.A. said, and guarantee a regular flow of immigrants in the coming months, providing there are no changes in the existing DP act which expires June 30, 1951. Chief speaker at the conference was William Rosenwald, honorary president of the U.S.N.A., and a national chairman of the United Jewish Appeal.
