United Jewish Appeal in Sao Paulo is Success; Leaders to Form Local U.i.t. Committee

The success of the United Jewish Appeal here was emphasized at a farewell banquet tendered in honor of Dr. Joseph Leron-Lerner, Israel representative who conducted the Appeal in Brazil, prior to his return to Israel.

Jewish community leaders in Sao Paulo also decided to form a committee to aid the Hebrew University, Weizmann Institute and Haifa Technion in Israel. Dr. Horacio Lafer, noted Brazilian political leader, will be honorary president of the group which is to be established as a result of efforts made here by Dr. S. Tocker, representative of the American U.T.T. Committee in South America.
