Israel Barzilai, Israel Minister to Poland, has resigned, it was officially announced here today. The annorncement added that his resignation is still being considered by the Foreign Ministry. Mr. Barzilai’s aides, Arriel Uchmani, counsellor, and Dr. Israel Carmel, first secretary, also submitted their resignations.

The resignation was first reported by Al Hamishmar, publication of the leftwing Socialist Mapam, which said that Mr. Barzilai was joined in his action by three other employees of the Warsaw legation. The newspaper added that the four men submitted to Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett, together with their resignations, a comprehensive statement of their reasons for the action. Observers here believe that the resignation was prompted by the fact that the Mapam refuses to identify itself with the government’s current foreign policy.
