W. J. Citrin, chairman of the Pal-Amt in Shanghai, has been named Israel’s honorary consul in Hong Kong, it was learned here today. Mr. Citrin thus becomes the first Israel consul to any country in the Far East.

A British citizen, Mr. Citrin will leave his post in Shanghai to take up residence here. For the last 18 months he has been in charge of the migration program which saw thousands of Jews who had taken refuge in China during the Nazi regime leave for permanent resettlement in Israel and other countries.
