A proposal that the Jewish communal set-up in Germany take over the responsibilities and functions of the Council of Liberated Jews, which has hitherto represented the displaced Jews in this country, was made here at a meeting of the Council by William Haber, Joint Distribution Committee representative for Germany.

Dr. Philip Auerbach, Bavarian Commissioner for Restitution and Persecutees, declared that the German communities are willing to assume these obligations. A number of DP leaders expressed the hope that the few remaining DP’s would not be left unpepresented in Germany.
