Book editors of some 80 newspapers and magazines and a number of independent writers last night selected John Hersey’s novel “The Wall” as the best piece of American fiction published in 1950. “The Wall” is the story of the Nazi liquidation of the Warsaw Ghetto and the Jews uprising against their oppressors.
