Congress of Free Trade Unions Asks U.N. to Intervene with Hungary Against Expulsions

An appeal to the United Nations to intervene with Hungary against the expulsion of large numbers of persons, including many Jews, from the major Hungarian cities and towns was addressed to U.N. Secretary Trygve Lie this week-end by the World Congress of Free Trade Unions, following the conclusion of its sessions here.

The Congress unanimously adopted a resolution condemning the Hungarian Government’s action. The resolution stressed that a high percentage of Jews were among the deportees. The Congress represents trade unions with a membership of some 55,000,000 workers.
