Funeral services were held here for Dr. Bernhard Weiss, who was deputy superintendent of the Berlin Police Department under the Weimar Republic until he was removed by Chancellor Fritz von Papen because of his unremitting activity against the Nazis as well as the Communists.
Dr. Weiss was the first unbaptized Jew to be admitted to the German civil service before the advent of the Weimar Republic. He fled Germany in 1933, went to Czechoslovakia and later settled in Britain where he operated a small stationery business until his death.
