“No matter what kind of a government rules Israel a continuation of economic controls will be necessary,” Herman Hollander, director-general of the Israeli Ministry of Trade and Industry, today told the members of a Zionist Organization of America economic delegation which is touring the country studying Z.O.A. projects here and looking for other fields in which the Z.O.A. may be helpful.
Mr. Hollander, a Mizrachi leader who comes from the United States, replied to charges of red tape and discrimination against private industry which were made by some members of the group. He said that the red tape is “no worse” in Israel than in other countries, and that 85 percent of the manufacturing industries are in private hands.
