Rabbi Isaac Kossowsky, rabbi of the Transvaal Federation of Synagogues and head of the Beth Din, died here after a long illness He was 74 years old. A native of Warsaw, he was ordained at the Telz Yeshiva where he studied under the famed Orthodox leader, Rabbi Shimon Skop. He was later associated with the Chofetz Chaim in work for Russian Jewry. Rabbi Kossowsky came to South Africa in 1933 and occupied a local pulpit. He was elected head of the Beth Din on the death of Chief Rabbi I. Landau.
