A bill providing for a regular election of the President and setting forth the conditions of tenure of the office passed the first reading in Parliament tonight. Dr. Weizmann’s present term expires November 20. The bill before the Knesset provides for the election of a president at least a month before the expiration of the term of the previous president.

President and Mrs. Weizmann arrived here last night to begin a two-week vacation. The Presidential party was greeted by high police officials at the King Dravid Hotel, where the President is staying. The President is not scheduled to make any official appearances.
